Summer Program for Girls

Cypress House Ranch

CH Horse Camp provides an exceptional amount of riding and lesson time for each of the seven girls enrolled weekly. Each day is filled with hands on activities with their  horses. Shortly after arrival, one of our riding instructors will observe each girl's riding level. From that we choose the lesson horse and trail horse best suited to her needs.  The camp riding counselors will teach the girls the responsibilities involved in maintaining the best care for their horses each day of their camp stay.

Daily 2 hour lessons in English style will be individualized to each girl's needs.  The second hour of the lessons will bring all of the girls together to develop a drill team show which will be presented to the parents on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Afternoon western riding will start with the girls learning to tack their trail horse with a western saddle, under the teaching of our special trail ride instructors.

Each time a ride is finished the girls cool down their horse with a good brushing or, more usually, with a rinse off. They also learn to feed their horse and clean the stall.  Finally they go into the house for showers and supper then movies and phone calls from home before lights out at 10:00 PM.

The horse camp girls will be using bedrooms 1-2-3 in the main house section of Cypress House B&B. Much like home, or college, 2-3 girls of similar age will share each room, where they will have separate sleeping, and chests of drawers for their clothing. The rooms will be furnished with our old fashioned quilts and simple country furniture.

Meals will be served buffet style in the kitchen and dinning room.  Menus are approved by a registered dietitian who is knowledgeable  about  nutritious foods popular with today’s kids. The main meal of the day will be served at 1:00 after a cool-off swim that follows the morning lesson.  This allows for late afternoon western riding. Supper will be a light, but ample meal, after the trail ride and horse care.

Ms. Jan's main meals are exceptionally popular with the girls, who surprise moms with their raves over dishes they won't eat at home.
