All About Us

Jan
Jan Fessler

Horses have been the main attraction at Cypress House for 17 years, growing from a small starting herd of 5 horses to our current 20. They are of various breeds, ages and levels and they work hard for our campers.

Jan Fessler (Ms. Jan), owner of Cypress House Ranch B&B for 18 years, spent 20 years (1962 through 1981) teaching camp counseling skills to high school girls in northern Girl Scout resident camps in Richmond, Va, Cincinnati, Oh., and Buffalo N.Y. Her purpose for starting camp work was to give her 2 daughters summers at well structured camps, and to take them away from south Florida summers. She taught various elementary grades in Ft. Lauderdale (1966 to 1990) and retired in 1995 after teaching 5 years in Citrus county while starting the bed and breakfast. She had ‘summers with Grammie‘ for her 4 granddaughters from age 3 on, during the 80’s and 90’s.

Amy Griffing, (Tweety)
is CH Horse Camp's full time horse manager, and beginner-lower intermediate instructor, western instructor, and all 'round motivator and encourager of all horse loving girls.  Tweety started her career as a professional trail guide, and western instructor some 20+ years ago as a teen "ride-tail" at an Palm Beach County area trail ride barn.  She has worked with horses and riders full or part time ever since.  She has proven to be Cypress House B&B's best asset, other than our excellently cared for horses, to encourage return campers and trail ride guests.

  Karen Agostinelli,

Originally from Rochester, NY, I have lived in Florida for 14 years and currently reside in Inverness. I started riding when I was 7 and received my first pony at age 9. Over the years I have taken lessons in dressage, hunter and jumper. I have competed since age 9, on and off throughout the years. My latest achievements have been in the jumper ring having received champion and reserve champion year end awards for level three and four jumpers. I am currently looking for my next horse to train from the ground up to make it to the jumper ring."

Diane Richardson,
Miss Diane is one of our ground help staff.  She has owned horses for many years and started with us last year as a part time trail guide and camp staff.  Miss Diane is the kind of person that every little girl gravitates toward when they are in a new, unfamiliar place.  She'll be helping the first full day of camp to get all of the girls settled and comfortable with their new camp friends and horses. She is available through the week as needed.  Friday, she's one of the guides on the state forest trail ride.

Nakita Kreiger Ashley  Arvanitis
is another of our horse care and instruction support staff.  She will help your camper learn to groom and tack (saddle / bridle) her horses each day.  She has been with Cypress House as a guest since she was 11.  She has owned Jim, one of the quarter horses we use for trail rides, since 2004.  Nakita has helped with horse camp for several years, and her friendly helpful nature makes her popular with all of the campers.  She has completed her first year at the University of South Florida, working toward a Bachelor's Degree in biochemistry. is one of our horse care and instruction support staff.  She has been a camper, and later support staff since we opened in 2004.  She'll help your camper be comfortable with being away from home.  In the barn she will be helping the girls learn to groom and tack their horses each day.  During lessons she helps Karen, our English instructor, by demonstrating a skill being taught.  Ashley is looking forward to being a high school senior in August.  She's lots of fun, and helps to liven up meal times in the kitchen.
