Activities at Cypress House Ranch


The Pool

The horse camp at Cypress House can be an opportunity for a ‘horse happy’ girl’s first sleep away experience, within a family-like atmosphere and close supervision. All the girls, from beginner to advanced English equitation, will be able to increase their developing riding and horse care skills: English lessons in the morning and western riding in the late afternoon. We’re more like an old fashioned summer visit to grandma’s farm, but up to date with our own swimming pool, and video movies during the heat of mid-day, and before bedtime.

Each session starts on Sunday afternoon between 3:00 and 4:00. Rooms will be assigned by age, usually 2 girls to a room.

Girls who come together will share the same room.

Camp activities begin at 4:00, Sunday, with an evaluation ride, followed by a swim, then supper. We’ll strive for lights-out by 10:00 pm.

On Friday there will be games on horseback and other horse activities instead of lessons. Then, all horses are given baths and equipment is cleaned for Saturday morning's show.

Before departure each Saturday morning, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am there will be a “show” for the parents. The show will be planned by the girls and instructors, to exhibit their riding skills and to demonstrate some of the fun they have had. Each girl goes home with a CD of photos taken during their week at CH Horse Camp.
